1/3/21 Stelzer County Park – Hike
Last updated: 1/29/2021
This pleasant 2.5 mile hike is easy going however, can be a bit challenging depending on which paths you take. On this Hike I went with 2 others and a dog. Started the hike around 9:00am and ended the hike around 11:00am. When we had arrived there was plenty of parking. Temperatures was quite moderate this time of the year ranging from 42 to 66 degrees. Since this trail is inland, you can expect weather to be very hot in the summer. Starting on Riparian Trail, there was plenty of shade from trees. Heading on to the next part of the trail, the Wooten Loop the vegetation changes from trees to brush. On some of the uphill climbs for the loop, there are well placed benches along the path. At the top of the loop you’ll see a sign pointing back to Stelzer park to the left or Stelzer trail to the right. We decided to take Stelzer Trail which provided more of an elevation climb until we reached the trail junction. Going right has less of a slope and gets you to a very wonderful view point or if needing a challenge going left has a strenuous slope and gets you to large rock formations and a view of a large pond for the endangered habitats conservancy. half of us went right and the other half went left, towards the rock formations. After a rough climb and a few snap shots of the view, we decided to head back down the trail and back home.
